About this place
Historic square at one end of old Angra, whose name recalls the former pits dug into the volcanic ground to store wheat.
Azzy’s story
The name Alto das Covas comes from old cavities dug into the ground where wheat was stored safely. For centuries, this place was linked to supplying the city and to Angra's expansion beyond its oldest core.
