About this place
Chapel opened in 1970 in Ladeira Grande, dedicated to Blessed João Baptista Machado, a martyr from Terceira and principal patron of the Diocese of Angra.
Azzy’s story
This small chapel grew from the wishes of Ribeirinha's own community and was designed by Father António de Ornelas Simões. Opened for worship in 1970, it honours João Baptista Machado, born on Terceira and martyred in Japan.
