Azzy’s story

The Chapel of Nossa Senhora da Consolação dates back to the earliest period of settlement on Terceira. Founded in 1546, it is believed to have been built by Gaspar Gonçalves Machado after his return from campaigns in North Africa, becoming the main church of the small Ribeira Seca community.
