About this place
Ruins of a former coastal fortification within the defensive system of Fortaleza de São João Baptista, positioned on a steep area of Monte Brasil to reinforce Angra's maritime defence.
Azzy’s story
Only traces remain today, but Forte da Quebrada was part of the enormous defensive line protecting Angra and the entrance to its bay. Its isolated location on Monte Brasil's slopes shows the strategic importance this point once had in the defence of the city.
