Azzy’s story
Devotion to Our Lady of the Pillar began here in the 17th century in a small chapel associated with the Jesuits. Construction of the present church began in 1867, it opened in 1872 and, after being destroyed by the 1980 earthquake, it was eventually rebuilt.
