Holy Spirit império built in 1814 in the São Carlos area of São Pedro parish.
Azzy’s story
The tradition of this império is linked to the volcanic crisis of 1761, when the population credited the Holy Spirit with protecting the island. Since then, São Carlos has kept this devotion alive through coronations, food sharing and several days of community festivities.
