About this place
Bronze and stone monument unveiled in 1954 beside Jardim Duque da Terceira, honouring Almeida Garrett and his deep connection with Terceira and Angra's liberal history.
Azzy’s story
Almeida Garrett spent part of his youth on Terceira and remained forever linked to Angra's history. He also drafted the 1837 decree that granted the city the name “Angra do Heroísmo”, which is why this monument remembers one of the most important figures in its history.
