Commemorative monument built in 1963 to honour Terceira's victory in the 1581 Battle of Salga.
Azzy’s story
It was in this bay that, on 25 July 1581, the people of Terceira stopped a Castilian force attempting to land on the island. The monument remembers that resistance and one of the most significant episodes in Terceira's history.
