Monumental obelisk completed in 1856 at Alto da Memória, built with stones from the former Castelo dos Moinhos and dedicated to King Pedro IV in honour of his time on Terceira during the Liberal Wars.
Azzy’s story
High above Angra stands a monument linked to King Pedro IV and Terceira's liberal history. Built with stones from the old castle that once stood here, the Memória became one of the city's most recognisable landmarks and offers a privileged view over Angra do Heroísmo.
