Historic harbour dating back to the early settlement of Terceira, developed as an important maritime support point for Angra and linked for centuries to trade, navigation and shipbuilding.
Azzy’s story
For centuries, Porto das Pipas received vessels from different parts of the Atlantic and helped turn Angra into a strategic point on the great sea routes. Old shipyards linked to the city's intense naval activity also operated here.
