Marian sanctuary in Serreta, originating in the 17th century and deeply connected with devotion to Our Lady of Miracles.
Azzy’s story
Devotion began when Father Isidro Fagundes Machado built a small chapel here in the late 17th century. Today the sanctuary welcomes thousands of pilgrims, especially in September, in one of Terceira Island's largest religious events.
