Former historic tank and fountain in Angra do Heroísmo, also known as Chafariz d’El-Rei and linked to the city's water supply since the late 16th century.
Azzy’s story
The unusual name “Tanque do Azeite” comes from the tradition that oil extracted from whales and other fish was stored here and used in mortar for military works. The site became linked both to the city's water supply and to the history of Angra's fortifications.
